Weekend Workout: New Year’s Eve

Last of 2017: New Year’s Eve

Time: 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.

8 a.m. Run (I did a short one. About 2.5 miles with a little pickup at the end.)

9 a.m.: Strength Circuit

Phase 1: 1 suicide per person, 7 exercises (pushups, lunges, squat jumps, overhead presses, kettlebell swings, upright row, deadlift). Reps of each exercise determined by the seconds it took the person doing the suicide to complete the suicide.

Phase 2: 20 mini-hill runs (option was to do 3 with someone on your back and 3 on someone’s back, but nobody took it)

Phase 3: One person pulls forklift tire with rope twice (others complete exercises until person is done pulling; pushups, burpees, etc…)

Phase 4: Farmer’s walk suicide (with squat at each line and end line)

Phase 5: Finisher 50: 10 reps each of pushups, squats with weight, kettlebell swings, overhead press, burpees

10 a.m.: Boxing (each person takes turn hitting on mitts, variety of combinations)

10:30 a.m.: Finisher: Med ball volleyball (inspired by this James Harrison Instagram post). Fun way to end it: Competitive, good total-body workout in sand.
